Every weekend through the door
My first bike ride to work happened on Friday. My time was horrible but I rode leisurely. Properly inflated tires are the key. They make the ride so much better. Keep that in mind for your cars, people. The car was left at home because I didn't like the clutch slipping so much and thought I'd save whatever clutch I had left for the drive to the mechanic.
Saturday morning I gingerly drove to my mechanic and high-revved it in every first gear. He saw me and couldn't believe I actually have a newer car. When he pulled out my file on the computer, it had all of my old car info. It's hard to believe I haven't seen him in a long time, and it's harder to believe the last time I saw him for my old car was just for a smog check and nothing major. It's a miracle! We talked for a little bit and he's impressed on how good automatic transmissions are in newer cars. The times are a-changing.
My brother gave me a ride home after I dropped off the car and we went to a local diner. He had the omelet which I could tell with his eyes, looked like "dog's dinner." I had the menudo and it tasted like it was missing something. We spent the afternoon with my nephew where we went to Ikea for curtains, and In-N-Out for lunch. Afterwards we went to my brother's apartment and installed curtains while my nephew played the "enhanced" Wii.
Still car-less, I biked to class and my shoelace almost got caught in the pedal gears. I caught it early. I had an impromptu route back home and it was easier than I thought. Shortly after getting home, Mike messaged me about going to the "do over" event in Hollywood. The line was huge so we skipped it and went a block down to "Blue Palms" for a few pints, duck and foie gras sausage, and lobster mac and cheese." After getting bored with that spot we went to the spot in Glassell Park for more pints. After chatting with the bartender, we decided to pack up and check out an event going on in Little Tokyo. The spot was weak ("last week!" Haha), and we chilled with Joe the bartender at the local spot not far away. The night was capped off with going to the imitation Korean taco truck where I had a kalbi burrito. No big whoop about the burrito, just something different.
I'm picking up my ride today, but I'll try to bike ride more this week to work because it happens to be bike week. What a nice coincidence.
I'm in. I'm on board.
Did you watch this week's Supernatural??? So damn good.
Medically, that's good news.
It must be the season or the weather. There are times where I can't stop reminiscing about the fun we had. I used to tell you everything because I thought it was a move forward. Now, I don't want to say anything again. You helped me through whatever bad things I was going through, especially with the especially annoying. Splitting a bottle was nothing and we wanted more.
My clutch is feeling bad. Even if it's the simplest thing like replacing it, I know it'll cost me. I love my car, so it won't deter me. I know, right? I finally declared that my car is great. My bond with it has finally developed. I watched a recent Mythbusters and they crashed a Cressida. It broke my heart. A destroyed Mythbusters Supra would just destroy me. Haha.
Falling off mopeds
I took a walk and did some window shopping during lunch and saw thing(s) I thought you'd like. Normally I'd get the item(s) and hold onto it waiting for a time to give it to you, but I then came to my senses and figured that that'll never happen. That thing will have to sit on the shelf for another person to pick it up for themselves or for a gift to someone else.
I've yet to see Iron Man 2 and it's a drag.
Today's lunch was super unhealthy. It was totally worth it, though.
Since time began
For the first time in weeks, I chilled mostly at home for the weekend. The last couple of weekends have been ragers and it put me in zombie mode. I got to sleep-in past 9am for both Saturday and Sunday. A big feat coming from someone who usually kinda wakes up at 7:30am on weekends for no reason. I have to admit that I like the calm and quiet of the mornings. I'll usually make a cup of coffee, check out the morning news, and maybe make a little something to eat while nursing my head of what might've happened the night before. Haha.
I didn't hermit myself all weekend. On Saturday I went to Toyotafest in the LBC. It was good to see a couple of old ridez I used to roll in get so much attention and modifications. Man, I missed those ridez. Walking around the show it made me realize... my car is slow. There was some pricey bits and pieces on a lot of these cars.
Resisting the temptation of going out and trying to watch the big UFC fight, I stayed in and watched a movie. It was a movie I've already seen. It should've been one that's been on my queue.
Nothing much on Sunday. June was acting a little playful that morning. I reformatted my laptop and did a new install of my favorite OS. I ditched Mint because it wasn't to my liking. It was good, mind you, but I got tired of that start menu and this weird quirk that always put the display to sleep every 20 minutes.
It's good biking weather again. I really should save on this expensive "Summer gas" and ride more to work.
It's blood on you
Ugh. My hayfever is the worst I've ever had it. My head is super congested. My left nostril is so backed up I think it's pressing against my eye and causing pressure. I broke down and bought some generic Claritin D.
My arms are so sore from so many push ups. I got some jow on it and it's feeling a little better.
It was a fun weekend. It feels weird that I was just there two weeks ago, and I'm walking the same halls, driving in the same parking structures, and eating the same buffets. We even saw the same shows. As it turns out, we weren't the only ones there. We bumped into other friends, tried to meet up with mine, and I found out that you were partying too. And if I looked hard enough, we could've been traveling the same freeway at the same time. We had to pay and wait in line like the "regular people."
I need some sleep. I've been a zombie for days now and it's not helping my health.
Thre are somethings you can't undo.
Hmm... nothing much to report. Things have been on the down-low so far. Just casual casualness. I felt really distracted in class last night. I'm not even sure what I was thinking about. This weekend will definitely be fun.
I kinda feel like something is missing. A little void. Like how you're putting together furniture from Ikea and that one vital bracket or torq screw fell underneath somewhere and it's right under your nose but you just can't find it. Without that piece, the desk or whatever will never be what it's supposed to be. It's just a pile of cheap compressed wood and dowels.
I took a little walk at work yesterday to grab an Orange Bang at the local burger shack. "Here you go, Chief."
Drop 'em off
Howdy. The weekend was fun and relaxing. I chilled with some buddies and watched The Losers. Excellent movie, btw. Each character was strong and it felt like I was reading the comic. It was like watching a high-budget episode of the A-Team. After the movie, we decided to try the attrocity against the culinary arts, the Double Down.
For some reason KFC thought a chicken sandwich where they use fried chicken as the bread was a good idea. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. It wasn't even that big of a sandwich but I swear my stomach was rejecting it halfway through it. Maybe it was the combination of the apple soda I was drinking with the DD.
It felt good to be in class again. I felt a good groove but I was also way off.
My car batter crapped out yesterday at work. I even jumped it, but it refused to hold a charge. There goes some money that I'd rather be doing something else with. I'm not looking forward to new tires.
"Happy Birthday!" to our special feline friend. I took her out to dinner last night and listened to all of the very new stories in her life. Like a chipmunk on crack she is.
It reminds me of your screen name
Everyone can learn from an equation, but not everyone can learn from an equation that has no answer.
When we drive home
I hate voicemail. The message means nothing. It's like talking to a machine. Actually, it is like talking to a machine. The breathing helps, and the new forms help, but it's nothing like sparring. I want to go, especially now, but I'm too sick to go.
This part of town maybe very rough
Here I am. I took a little time off to recoup. Ever since the Vegas trip I felt exhausted. This past week I took the vest off and decided to work at my normal weight. My knees was feeling edgy and I thought I'd take some weight off their shoulders.
Let's start off post-Vegas because I still didn't unpack my tiny laptop. Last Tuesday I headed off to Hollywood to shill my buddy's buddy's tequila at a club/restaurant for a bikini contest. I know, right??? There were some C-list celebrities and athletes. I chatted with some folk around the party. A weird party indeed. The big guy from The Blindside is huge.
Nothing too exciting about the following Wednesday except for grabbing drinks and meeting the "usuals" at Al's. The jerky thief struck again.
Thursday was business as usual and I spent my night in class. I was sore going to class and again after.
The gang and I went to see a matinee of Kick-Ass. Good movie. Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl stole the whole movie. I liked her as a regular girl out of the costume, and I liked Nic Cage when he was in his costume.
JAB invited me to a backyard party later that night where I had shots, beer, and Jungle Juice. If I had stayed longer, I would've met the cops and seen a girl fight. "It's always ten minutes after leave."
Trying to hold my own in class with all the partying and the upcoming scratchy throat was hard on Sunday. I got beat. Later that night I saw a performance in Hollywood by a waitress I met at the bikini contest party. They performed at Cafe Was in the rotating piano room. Their sound was loungy and sounded really good.
I've been trying to fight this scratchy throat ever since. I've knocked it out and it's now at a tiny cough. Yesterday was the worst. Every time I involuntarily coughed, the back of my head would have a sharp pain. Now, the cough is just annoying. A tiny pain.
Show him on the billboard
Okay. Once I get my other computer and thoughts out of the car, then I'll post my trip. In the meantime, here:
I clenched my fist
Why wouldn't it be different
You already left
You stop frontin' and use your head
Wow. Everything is moving so fast this 2010. I can't believe it's already Thursday. Everyone says that they're so busy and there's not enough time in the day to do what they want to do. Honestly, when was the last time you had time on your hands and you didn't do anything. Andy-Bot has been keeping me up to date on his DJ performances and I need to see him perform again soon.
Here or Gone
My Windows 7 partition did something funny to my computer where it made my laptop into an electric paper weight. This gave me a good opportunity to test out the new release of Linux Mint 8, the Helena release. It's an Ubuntu variant with audio/video/flash support already included in the installation. No more installing these codecs after the install like most Linux OS's. Unlike other variants where changes are usually language packs and some theme changes, Mint provides easy to find configuration menus for customization.
I like Mint. It's very clean, the default theme "pops!" and everything is running right out of the box. I may be a creature of habit, but I still miss Ubuntu. There's something about tweaking and adjusting it to your preference, but with Mint you almost feel like you shouldn't stray from what it gave you because so much thought was put into it's layout. Ubuntu's 10.4 Lucid release is coming out in April and so far I really dug it before I had to reformat. I was rockin' the beta and was even starting to get used to the Mac-like window buttons.

Despite being awkward (coming from a *NIX and Windows habit), it actually makes sense and feels right when you get used to it. Think about it... the "File, Edit, View" menus are already on the left, so your cursor may already be near that area anyways. We've become so accustomed to having it on the right for so long that we've never notice (unless you're a Mac user, that is.)
I'm definitely going to switch soon. If you're curious about using Linux, I'd highly recommend Mint, but if you know you're going to fudge with the system, then go with Debian/Ubuntu/RedHat... the old skoolers.
Fight the start
Happy Easter, whatever it means.
All I did was eat this weekend. Friday was the only day where I barely ate anything. I really wanted to spar on Friday, but the pickings weren't ripe.
Ever since I saw my first trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine I knew I had to see it. It almost felt like a pilgrimage for me. There was something about it where I had to see it. The idea that a movie with a premise like that can make it to the big screen gave me hope for the world. I was ready for it to be dumber than I expected but it was a good movie. You have to see it with buddies. That's the key. Afterwards we all had tri-tip sandwiches.
That same day I met up with the newly engaged and we ate a delicious meal at the other good Thai restaurant in Pasadena. Before seeing Alice in Wonderland we had some drinks and the Sam Adams Nobel Pilsner made me basketball incredibly. I was worried that I'd feel uncomfortable through the whole movie. While the movie was somewhat enjoyable, it irked me that it was a movie about free will, but Alice felt obligated near the end. At least I think she felt that.
Movie fest didn't stop there. I also saw How to Train Your Dragon. If you have or had owned dogs, then you can relate.
My family ate tons at dim sum on Sunday. I wanted tripe but none was seen in the carts. At least the chicken feet came around.
