What can I do?
I spilled my heart. I can't do more. Time is never on my side. What else can I do? Crush city, baby.
I'm no one special. I wish I was. I have to make due with what I have. Always forward. Forward.
Wilco will love you, baby. I was too late. Is it too late?
The little Linda in my head
Yikes. I went to the bank today and was shocked to see my balance. Christmas splurging really hit me hard. I like this super computer, though. It's such an upgrade over my last laptop. Within 30 minutes of getting this laptop, I've already installed a new OS and am dual booting like nuts.
Even though I'm in the poor house, I still donated a little something to the Red Cross to help with the Haiti crisis. It's not much but any little helps. Some people will say, "what have they done for us?" But why does that matter? They're in terrible shape and thousands have died. People are people.

Why do nice guys finish last?
Nose-deep
Ew. I picked up my guitar for the first time in 2010 and the first time in a loooong time. I'm very disappointed that I don't play any of the eclectic/weird stuff that I like. I don't listen to death metal, but I'd love to know how to shred. I love the blues, but I can't play anything even close. All I can play is high school "Battle of the Bands" stuff.
I've gotten phone calls from all over the place today, but none from anyone I wanted to talk to.
I want to be a CIA agent, but I'm afraid the background check and friends and family interviews will do me in and result in a job loss.
This day was weird.
Lips of faith
Hard to believe that the weekend is over. Michelle and I had lunch at Cole's and we both agree that Phillipe's is better. I like Cole's atmosphere better, though. Afterwards she was nice enough to go looking at apartments around the area with me. Apparently we have a dog. Haha. We spent the rest of the afternoon just chatting and talking life. Right when I thought it was time to call it a day, Billy hit me up to go to Father's Office for dinner. Good thing I wasn't driving, I drank many-a-pint.
I finally saw Away We Go. It was sitting in my queue burning a hole in the harddrive. I'm glad I saw it. I was in the perfect mood to watch it. This super TV has its advantages.
Walking out of class into the perfect weather made me think that this is amazing winter weather.
My new laptop should be coming in tomorrow (or it better be) and that'll be fun to play with. New toys are fun.
Now in HD
Yup. My daily laptop is dead. I tried to reformat and reinstall everything but it wouldn't even install right and a reboot left it running with nothing on the screen. The laptop wasn't worth saving. The speakers was going out and I didn't feel like opening it up but now I want to because I don't have to worry about breaking it. This new one has thrice the hard drive space, twice the ram, and more ports! Oh, and it'll be loads faster, too. I will miss the money. I already spent a lot lately.
It's sad to toss my old Chucks, but it needs to be done.
Taste for blood
Welcome to the first post of 2010. I partied a bit on New Years. The robots was supposed to get back together for NYE, but something happened and they didn't play(?) Hung out at Bar 107 and rung in the new year there. It's a shame because hanging with the robots was almost a tradition.
I spent most of the long vacation watching movies and watching this new super TV. I've hooked up an old computer to it and having a gigantic monitor is fun. Too bad the computer itself is kinda weaksauce. Speaking of computers, my laptop (the one I'm typing on as I speak) is crapping out on me. My monitor has shrunk into some lame 900x600 resolution and something causes my computer to freeze for a second every 20 seconds. Tre annoying. I'm excited to get a new laptop because it was inevitable, but sad to see this one go if I can't get it fixed.
It's great to hang out with an old buddy I haven't seen since high school. Sad bastards stick together, ya know.
The four tribes must stand together
Well, here's my last post of 2009. 2010 is another year for hope and smiles.
Happy New Year.
It can be repaired
Christmas passed as fast as it came. I was lucky enough to have a minimum day at work on Christmas Eve. I took the opportunity to lower my ears and grab a nice lunch. I spent most of the rest of the day wrapping gifts and getting ready to make dinner the next day.
Brian invited me to his mom's place for a nice Christmas lunch. There was tons of delicious Vietnamese food and I couldn't thank his mom enough. That day we found out that Eddie is leaving tomorrow. I think a trip out east is justified now.
The market on Christmas day wasn't as crowded as I thought, but the lines were longer than expected. There were a lot of people just buying one or two things that they forgot to purchase during the week. The kitchen was hectic all afternoon. Thanks for my sister to lend a hand. I cooked extra expecting company, but company never showed. You'd think I would've learned from last year. On the menu is as follows: Prime rib roast, rack of lamb, baby honey carrots, green beans, bacon mashed potatoes, gravy, wilted spinach, some cheese and potato thing, and various pies. June didn't like how I ignored her the whole day and made a racket outside. She didn't calm down till I was able to walk her after dinner. She's getting too used to exercise. What a weirdo.
On Saturday, a couple of us guys went to the way early showing of Avatar in 3D at the IMAX. I think I was running on a few hours of sleep and no coffee, so afterwards I just passed out at home and felt super lazy.
Sunday didn't feel like a Sunday, mostly because the realization of having to go to work the next day sunk in. RJK and I had a gift exchange over coffee and chops. It was hard to keep a straight face and not bust up laughing when I saw the similarities of our gifts. How's the army of spongy sea creatures? The last of the remaining gifts got delivered and I went home and had tamales for dinner.
Shake it out
My leg is going to hurt tomorrow. I got whacked in the leg near the back of my knee hard with a cane while trying to learn the cane form. It didn't hurt much when it got hit, but as the day moved on it hurt a little more and more. I'm not in unbearable pain, but an annoying pain. I'm still a little surprised on how much Chinese I can understand. I'm not surprised by how much I can't speak.
I took the time today to go apartment hunting. One was pretty cool except the parking situation kinda sucked and it was too hard to get to if I was "lazy." This one other place would be ideal if I was by myself sans June. It wasn't until I talked to another tenant and he said that with the lack of windows and sunshine, people have been known to go nuts. Needless to say, that was also a pass.
It's going to be another short week that will never end!
** Update ** I'm watching Mike Judge's movie, Extract, and Mila Kunis is super really cute.
There's a vulture perching right on screen
Nothing is feeling better right now than chilling with a few drinks and watching TV and a few movies that I never got to catch up on.
I could be partying, but I need a break.
Back on the chain gang
My body is so beat. It feels like it was the pinball in a pinball machine. Man, I miss playing pinball. I used to dump so many quarters in them. So, in class I've been called a tank, and now it's "the wall." I'm creating quite a name for myself. I really wanted to roll with tracksuit, but he was busy. He doesn't roll with anyone anymore. My eyes are safe for now, but my chest is taking quite the beating. Class is feeling so empty.
Ugh. Work has finally died down a little, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't have it's share of problems. I got chewed out for something I tried to point out earlier. Almost half of the day dragged because the internet was down because we tried to install a new special router. *Cough* (a crappy router). Work got this supposedly fancy VPN router that was supposed to help us communicate between us and the Great Firewall of China, but it's a pain to set up. I mentioned that I could set up a cheaper, better router with a firmware "upgrade" that could do the same and more, but I guess they didn't want to do it that way.
A Great Adventure
Saturday was a lot of fun. I didn't have to work so Brian and I went to the auto show. Not wanting to brave the rain at the Pantry, I took Ritzel's recommendation and ate breakfast at Home. It's not normal to drink that much coffee all at once. Heck, it was cold and it really went well with French toast. It totally worked well together. Their seats were comfortable.
The car show was a little "meh" but it was fun anyways. We got a hold of Eddie and took him out to dinner because he was going to leave to live in the ATL soon.
Due to all the work and class, my body was feeling sore. Even my throat was scaring me to think I was coming down with some kind of illness. I ditched Sunday's class to let my body refresh a bit. It needed it. Instead, I got fish tacos and watched a profanity-laden shouting match at the taco stand. I never heard that many "putttaaaa!" in a fifteen minute time span in my life. Later that night I chatted online with a few people and then with my sister over some vino. I was already not looking forward to going to work the next day.
My throat felt fine today, and that was a relief. My nose was acting up so I finally broke out the Neti pot and gave it try. I tried not to laugh while using it, but it did make my breathing better.
About less than an hour ago I hit a raccoon while on my way to pick up my sister's gift. It left a good amount of cosmetic damage on the car. Oh well, at least it's not too noticeable. The car was bound for some rashes eventually. On the way back, I tried to see if I could see the body, but there was nothing there. If it got up and ran, then that's one resilient animal. I wonder what a different bumper would look on the car. Hmmm....
Operation Freedom
It's raining right now and it sounds beautiful. Class has felt to empty lately. Last year it was full of laughter and deep thuds, now it is a little different. Victor was tough. It didn't even seem like he was out sick. I actually wanted to roll with Tracksuit, but it didn't happen.
Work has to stop getting so busy. I'm delegating more, so that make me management material. Haha. I swear, I'm going to be pissed if they implement a time card system. The honor system is my kind of system.
I need time to shop, damnit. What do I get you?
June needs a bath, but she'll have to wait till the rain stops. She's almost the school's mascot, you know. That'd be awesome.
Prepare for a visit
The most unexpected thing happened while walking June on Friday. I bumped into a dear old friend of mine. It was really sudden. It'll be really good to catch up if possible.
I kept the weekend really low key. I reluctantly went to work on Saturday to ease things for today, but the rain didn't help but hindered it a bit. I wish I was enjoying the rain instead of having to trudge through it. The rain seems to finally stop and if it will stop for tomorrow, I'll be grateful. After work on Saturday I shopped and ignored the guy selling puppies. It's hard enough to find a place with just one dog, imagine with two dogs?
There's still so much shopping to do. I keep remembering different people I have to shop for.
Sunday was a fun class, albeit cold at first. My brother and I had lunch and did a bit more shopping.
Hey, at least I got out of the house for a bit.
